A naked woman lies on a table in a Satanic ritual. When the blood of a rooster is poured on her belly, she writhes with excitement. In the vampire cult, blood is the ultimate turn-on.
Women find Dracula (Christopher Lee) irresistible. They look into his eyes and can’t resist his male gaze. But how disappointed they must be. After he seduces them, he has no interest in sex, and the women end up in the basement in chains. Dracula takes the patriarchy to a whole new level of oppression.
Once passive victims, Dracula’s brides are now a menace to society. With new dietary restrictions and sharp fangs, they find a man they can sink their teeth into. But Inspector Murray knows how to handle women who are hot for blood. He turns on a cold shower and vanquishes them.
One vampire remains, and only one man can defeat him. Van Helsing (Peter Cushing) sets a trap for Dracula by standing behind a hawthorn bush, its thorns deadly to vampires. Dracula’s hatred of his enemy impairs his judgement. He walks into the bush and becomes a bloody mess.
Van Helsing puts the sad vampire out of his misery. Pulling a fence post from the ground, he drives it through Dracula’s heart for the coup de grâce. In this iconic scene, as Dracula crumbles into dust, Christopher Lee bids farewell to the role he played nine times.
